void (the call and response) is a play on the French phrase, l'appel du vide - the call of the void, which describes the fleeting, non-suicidal urge to jump from a high building or in front of a train and other potentially self-destructive impulses briefly felt during everyday activities.
The theory is, the urge to jump affirms the urge to live.
